The Civic

THE CIVIC AUDITORIUM The Dalles Civic Auditorium has been an important part of the fabric of this community for more than 90 years. Built to honor the Veterans of WW1 and the Veterans of the wars that followed ,it stands as a reminder of the personal sacrifice made by the young men of Wasco County. This Iconic land mark has been the meeting place of all our generations growing up in The Dalles. Many of you will remember the movies, dances, dinners and sports events held there during our High School years. After falling in disrepair, the community has come together to refurbish this historic building. It is once again a vital part of the local culture, providing a place for many of the events we remember so well. The Civic Preservation Committee's current goal is to complete the restoration and renovation of the theater section. This is the largest area in the Civic ,which can seat a large number of people for plays, movies ,concerts and sporting events. With the completion of this area of the Civic, much of the cost of maintaining the building can be done by rental of the various venues. To get additional information about the Civic including how to rent various venues , or help the restoration efforts please log on to the following web site and find out more about the project.
