According to Oregon Geographic Names, 6th Edition, by Lewis L. McArthur, p. 462:
The name Kaskella was suggested by Malcolm A. Moody for this railroad station on the east side of the Deschutes. A cattle and wheat ranch now bears the name. Chief Kaskella (Cush Kella) was a signatory to the Treaty of 1855 and was named first chief of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation.
